Innovating and Learning
At GLOBAL CAUSE, we focus on finding solutions and working with partners to implement them.
Solutions require good ideas and creative approaches. We are open to ideas from anyone and will do our best to give them the attention they deserve.
We began our work in China in 2007 by bringing together scientists from China and the United States in a series of collaborative workshops in Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai.
Outstanding scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, East China Normal University, Shanghai Institute for Science of Sciences, the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (the Panda Base) and other institutions interacted with distinguished American scientists from GLOBAL CAUSE. They discussed a wide range of topics relating to global warming.
The Chinese scientists had been producing excellent work in related areas (much of which had not yet been published outside of China). They welcomed collaboration with American colleagues.
After arranging similar workshops in the US and considering how best to follow up on this dialogue, GLOBAL CAUSE decided to give special attention to the threat posed by global warming to the giant panda and its habitat. We agreed to work with the Panda Base on a unique, collaborative initiative to save giant pandas in the wild.
Now we are engaged with the Panda Base in an innovative approach to panda reintroduction. We’re making great progress and have high hopes of success!
